PSV seek defensive fix as Obispo returns after Lens collapse

PSV faces a defensive shortage after two transfer attempts fell through, prompting technical director Earnest Stewart to act swiftly. He confirmed that defender Armando Obispo, whose €5.5 million move to RC Lens collapsed, will re‑join the PSV squad on Tuesday while the club trains in Germany.

Negotiations initially broke down, but PSV and Lens reached an agreement at the end of last week for Obispo’s transfer, valued at €5.5 million to the Ligue 1 side.

Obispo was already in France (Frankrijk) to finalise the move, but personal difficulties prevented the deal from being completed, causing the transfer to collapse.

"We have had telephone contact," Stewart told the ED. "Switching the button as quickly as possible is best for us. He will report Tuesday to the group," he added.

PSV travelled on Monday to the German training camp in Klosterpforte, where the squad will spend the mid‑week. Obispo is expected to join the group there on Tuesday.

Another PSV defender, Adama Nagalo, also saw his transfer fall through. He had been in Turkey to complete a €2‑3 million move to Corum FK, but likewise could not finalise the deal and will not join the German camp. Nagalo has not been fit recently and will receive extra personal attention from Stewart.

With both Obispo and Nagalo unavailable for their intended moves, PSV now looks to shore up its defence as it continues its training camp in Germany.
