PSV secure free‑transfer veteran Filip Kostic to boost experience

PSV announced Vandaag at 16:30 that 33‑year‑old Serbian international Filip Kostic has joined the Eindhovenaren on a free transfer, signing after his Juventus contract expired on 1 July. The move adds a seasoned defender to Peter Bosz’s squad for the upcoming season.

Kostic’s deal is a free‑transfer, as his contract with Juventus officially concluded on 1 July, allowing the Serbian to leave without a fee.

AEK Athene lodged serious interest, and several Serie A sides also pursued the defender before he opted for PSV.

NEC misses Champions League bonus but eyes Europa League points

The 33‑year‑old explained that he chose Eindhoven because the club guarantees Champions League football, a factor he deemed essential for his next chapter.

PSV bring Kostic in as reinforcement for the entire left side; he can operate as a left‑back or as a left‑winger and will wear number 18 in Eindhoven. Together with Ivan Perisic, he is one of the most experienced players, having won the Europa League and featured for Serbia at three major tournaments.

The Serbian is the second major summer signing after Sven Mijnans arrived from AZ, and the club expects to announce Kodai Sano from NEC shortly.
