Premier League sparks the race for Atalanta's Giorgio Scalvini

In the heart of Bergamo, the young defender Giorgio Scalvini of Atalanta is at the centre of intense interest from Premier League clubs, who are watching him ahead of the upcoming winter transfer window. Rumours of a possible move have already reignited the transfer link that connects the Lombard city to England.

English clubs targeting Scalvini

According to the website TeamTalk, for several years the Premier League has been watching the Italian market with increasing attention and the next name on the top clubs' list is precisely Giorgio Scalvini of Atalanta. The defender, born in 2004, has attracted scouts for his defensive qualities and his ability to play on both flanks. The enquiries come from teams looking to strengthen the back line ahead of the winter season.

In the summer Atalanta decided to take Scalvini off the market, even though they had not received any concrete offer beyond simple courting. The decision was motivated by the desire to keep the young defender for the ongoing sporting project.

Scalvini is still regarded as a key component in Maurizio Sarri's project. However, if in January the club does not find itself in the desired league positions, the management could consider a sale to generate cash.

Among the English clubs interested are Tottenham, Chelsea, Newcastle, Manchester United and Manchester City. The Dea, in case of a departure, will aim to set a high price, as Scalvini's contract expires on 30 June 2028, making next summer the last window to demand a significant fee.
