Premier League midfielder Sorba Thomas flips £160k Land Rover near Hull City training

Premier League midfielder Sorba Thomas flipped his £160,000 Land Rover on a residential street near Hull City’s training ground (X/@HullCityStats) on Friday morning, with fire engines and police attending. The 27‑year‑old escaped unhurt as the vehicle lay upside down on Millhouse Wood Lane, Cottingham.

Crash details and emergency response

Police and fire crews arrived at around 9am on Friday, securing the narrow road on Millhouse Wood Lane. The Land Rover Defender, valued at around £160,000, was pictured upside down with smashed glass. Hull manager Sergej Jakirovic was also seen at the scene.

Hull City issued a statement confirming Thomas was unharmed, reassuring supporters that the midfielder emerged from the vehicle completely unscathed. The club noted the images circulating on social media and thanked emergency services for their swift response.

Transfer background and early impact

Sorba Thomas joined Hull City from Stoke City for a reported £10 million fee during the summer transfer window. The 27‑year‑old, a left‑winger, was highlighted by manager Sergej Jakirovic as a player capable of operating as a left‑sided No 10.

Jakirovic praised Thomas’s delivery, set‑piece ability and defensive responsibility, adding that his speed and sharpness suit the newly promoted Premier League side. He expressed confidence that Thomas could help the Tigers achieve their objectives.

Since his arrival, Thomas has featured twice for Hull City, starting a 1‑0 Carabao Cup defeat to Sunderland and appearing off the bench in a 0‑0 Premier League draw with Aston Villa. His contributions have already begun to shape the team’s early season performances.

Thomas celebrated his Premier League debut on Instagram, describing it as a “pinch moment” for him and his family. Hull City now prepare to face Chelsea at 3pm on Saturday in the Premier League.
