Premier League clubs urge Stanković's return to Brugge

As the winter transfer window approaches, the Premier League is pressing harder for a possible return of the 21‑year‑old Serbian midfielder Aleksandar Stanković to Club Brugge, after he left for millions to Internazionale this summer and has since received little playing time.

A difficult start in Milan

Stanković, who still played a key role in Club Brugge's title win in the Jupiler Pro League last year, was sold to Internazionale in the summer for an amount described in the media as “quite a few million”. Inter activated a buy‑back clause of €23 million and signed the Serbian until June 2031.

Despite the long contract, the young midfielder only gets short cameo appearances. Last weekend he played 29 minutes in the 3‑0‑win against Parma, a period far below the expectations that were set when he returned to Milan.

Premier League interest and a potential bid

Transfer expert Ekrem Konur reports that several Premier League clubs are ready to offer Stanković a lifeline. The clubs would prepare a bid of €40 million, possibly supplemented by €5 million in bonuses, for the winter market.

Although Stanković is not actively seeking a departure, the limited playing time could make him consider the English clubs. Inter has so far rejected all offers, including the mentioned Premier bid.

Inter on a possible loan spell

Inter is now considering a loan spell in January, without naming a specific club yet. In the summer earlier loan proposals from Torino and several Champions League clubs were rejected, making the option to send Stanković temporarily to another club more attractive again.

Club Brugge could, according to various Italian newspapers, benefit from a possible return on a loan basis, provided the financial aspects – especially the player's high salary – do not pose a barrier.
