Prandelli says Allegri will ease Napoli’s post‑Conte transition
Cesare Prandelli, former Italy CT, told Il Mattino that Napoli’s strong Italian core and the arrival of Massimiliano Allegri will make the shift from Antonio Conte straightforward, citing the club’s solid structure and fan connection as key factors in the transition.
Prandelli praised Allegri’s ability to maximise each player’s qualities, noting his curiosity and irony. “Allegri is curious, ironical, experienced and knows how to win the hearts of supporters,” he said. He added that Max possesses an extraordinary gift of curiosity, essential for coaches to adapt.
He described Napoli as a club with a “hard‑as‑rock” squad, few changes, a healthy society and a very present president, making management of change simple. “Someone will say ‘when Conte was here it was better…’, while others will claim they were eager for change,” Prandelli observed. The interview appeared in the Stampa A&minus A+ section of Il Mattino.
Prandelli noted the season opener will be against Genoa, led by De Rossi. He highlighted a new generation of very young coaches such as Aquilani, Grosso and Abate, suggesting they can bring fresh ideas if true change is desired. Notizie Napoli reported that all of Prandelli’s former players support this outlook.
