Police probe Sevilla fans' brawl before clash at Ciutat de València

The police filed five reports against Sevilla fans before and during Monday's match between Levante and Sevilla at the Ciutat de València, while investigating the massive brawl that took place around the stadium hours before the initial whistle.

Reports for conduct inside and outside the stadium

According to EFE, citing police sources, three of the reports stemmed from actions outside the venue and two more from incidents that occurred inside the stadium. All the complaints were against Sevilla supporters.

During the match, police officers entered the area where the Sevilla fans were after Levante supporters nearby threw bottles towards their seats, prompting the authorities' intervention.

Violence in the goal celebration area

The match official, Adrián Cordero Vega, recorded in the report that in the 95th minute, after Sevilla's 2‑3 goal, local supporters identified by the colour of their shirts threw a multitude of plastic bottles, cups and other objects into the celebration area, none of which struck the players.

The referee stopped the match for several minutes, following protocol, and the game resumed after the pause.

Police sources confirmed to EFE that the Provincial Information Brigade is investigating the Monday morning brawl, in which at least seventy people took part, some armed with sticks, many with their faces covered, and stones and other objects were thrown.

The investigation remains open and the police continue reviewing the complaints to determine possible violations of the Sports Law.
