Polanski loses Gladbach coaching post – Sabitzer takes Nati break

International football news reports that Eugen Polanski is no longer Gladbach coach with immediate effect on Sunday, while BVB midfielder Marcel Sabitzer is taking a national team break in the Nations League. The 40‑year‑old coach was dismissed after the 0:5 loss to SC Freiburg on Saturday; Borussia stands without a point and with a goal difference of 3:12 at the bottom of the table.

Polanski: Exit after roughly a year

Legend: The exit after roughly a year at Borussia Mönchengladbach marks the end of a short era. Eugen Polanski took over the team as successor to the dismissed Gerardo Seoane after three matchdays in the previous season. At the end of the season Gladbach finished in twelfth place.

The separation is the first managerial change of the Bundesliga season and shows that Polanski's impact did not lead to the hoped‑for success.

Marcel Sabitzer, a 32‑year‑old BVB midfielder, will not be available for the Austrian national team in the Nations League. He said: «I have agreed with team manager Ralf Rangnick in trustworthy and open talks that I will now take a break and we will discuss at the beginning of next year whether I will return for the EURO qualification.»

How it will continue for the Austrian after the break remains open. Sabitzer emphasizes that the decision was made by mutual agreement.

The contrast between Gladbach's fight for points and Sabitzer's personal break underscores the different challenges in international football.
