Polanski hints at new chance for Neuhaus as Gladbach head to Freiburg

On Samstagnachmittag, Borussia Mönchengladbach travel as guests to SC Freiburg for an Auswärtsspiel. Cheftrainer Eugen Polanski outlined the Kadersituation and evaluated the Chancen for a Punktgewinn, noting a Neue Chance could arise for Florian Neuhaus if he impresses in the upcoming match.

Polanski stressed that the 29‑year‑old Neuhaus, currently parked on the Abstellgleis, remains an Option for the Kader this Wochenende. Auf die Vorbereitung und die Einstellung hat er sich gut gezeigt, and the Coach added that he could become a Faktor. Für mich ist Flo bereit, and Der Trainer believes the club’s top earner can still hope for playing time.

Press conference on Auswärtsspiel

During the Pressekonferenz before the away game, the Gladbach‑Coach reiterated the precarious Personalsituation. In the Kontext of recent defeats, Polanski said the team managed the first two games "ohne Flo" yet still secured a point. Neuhaus wird wieder in den Kader einbezogen, and he warned Die Mannschaft must avoid "schlechte Entscheidungen" and learn from the Elversberg loss.

Gladbach entered the weekend after a 3‑0 defeat in Leipzig and a 3‑4 home loss to SV Elversberg, where the defence conceded three Tor in the second half. Despite the setbacks, Polanski highlighted the team's resilience up to the 65th minute against Elversberg.

Polanski praised Freiburg for executing many small actions correctly, noting their disciplined pattern of play. He admired their "unglaublich schlaue" transfer policy and urged his side to stay clear defensively and watch standards to take at least a point.

Kadersituation and player options

Beyond Neuhaus, young Mathieu Nguefack (18) still has chances for the Startelf, though Polanski urged patience due to the heavy weekend schedule. Zento Uno (19) has recovered his fitness and will now gain experience in the U23 squad, while Daiki Hashioka (27) remains sidelined with neck problems. Kevin Stöger (33) could start instead of Nguefack, and Jan Leszczynski (19) may rotate in for Joe Scally (23), who has already scored a Tor for the starting XI.

Polanski’s candid assessment underscores the fine margins that will decide whether Gladbach can secure a Punktgewinn in Freiburg. The upcoming clash will test the squad’s depth and the coach’s ability to translate preparation into results.
