Pjanic at Festival: Cardiff's Juventus not top in Champions League
Miralem Pjanic, former midfielder of Juventus, said at the Festival of Sport in Trento that the black‑and‑white team in the final in Cardiff was not the strongest, despite the presence of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Remembrance of the 2017 final
The final of the 62nd edition of the Champions League, played on 3 June 2017, remains in memory for the 4‑1 defeat of Real Madrid, which thus won the trophy. Pjanic recalled that match from the festival stage, highlighting the constant strength of Juventus.
An even more impressive squad
The midfielder added that, one or two years later, Juventus had a truly incredible squad, with two teams capable of winning the league title. According to him, the lineup that played in Cardiff was surpassed by the later one, larger and more talented.
Pjanic also mentioned the impact of Ronaldo, stating that the presence of Ronaldo made it impossible for anyone to oppose the free‑kick challenges of Ronaldo. He recounted an episode in Naples where, thanks to a free‑kick, the team won a match.
Massimiliano Allegri, then coach, praised Max, describing him as essential for the cohesion of the team and for the personal development of Max.
