Physical dispute derails Driouech’s Rangers move to Scottish club
Couhaib Driouech, the PSV forward, saw his pending transfer to Rangers FC collapse at the last moment after a physical issue and a disagreement between doctors halted the move. The Dutch winger had been spotted at the Scottish club’s stadium, but the deal was called off on Friday.
Physical problem stalls transfer
According to Driouech, doctors identified a small tear in his thigh that was aggravated by a knee injury earlier that week, resulting in a bruise. He told that the disagreement between the medical teams contributed to the collapse of the deal. The injury was described as a physical problem that prevented the transfer.
The winger described the episode as a rollercoaster of emotions but said he feels good and is back on the pitch. He added that he had no influence over the decision and that the move would have been a nice step for his career. He acknowledged that this is not the first time such a situation has occurred for him.
Uncertain path for player and clubs
Driouech remains uncertain about his future, stating he will wait and see if any opportunity arises. He called the situation rotten but accepted it as reality. The transfer is not entirely off the table, but its status remains unclear.
At PSV, Driouech has received limited playing minutes, prompting speculation that a departure could provide more game time. The club and the Scottish side appeared fully aligned on the transfer last week. However, the agreement fell through on Friday.
He was even spotted on Thursday evening inside the Rangers stadium, suggesting the move was close to completion. By Tuesday, he rejoined PSV’s open training session and participated in several drills. Rangers had previously indicated he would be sidelined for weeks due to injury.
