Personal deal secured, but Ajax and Frankfurt still haggle over Gaaei
Today, Anton Gaaei has secured a personal agreement to leave Ajax for Eintracht Frankfurt, while the German club continues negotiations with the Amsterdam side over his transfer fee. The contrast between a player‑centred deal and the clubs’ unresolved financial terms highlights the uncertainty surrounding the move.
The German branch of Sky Sport reported Monday that Gaaei already reached a personal agreement with the Bundesliga club. Frankfurt is now negotiating with Ajax, and it is unclear what the Amsterdam club hopes to earn from the Danish right‑back.
The interest follows Eintracht Frankfurt’s recent signing of Rasmus Kristensen, who also played for Ajax in 2018‑2019, and the German side is seeking a new right‑back. Sky noted that the number eight of last Bundesliga season is taking concrete steps to join Frankfurt.
Ajax snubs Frankfurt's modest Gaaei bid, seeks German multiple
Gaaei’s contract with Ajax runs for two more years; he was brought to the Dutch capital in summer 2023 by technical director Sven Mislintat for €3.5 million from Danish Viborg. In his first season he endured early substitutions against Feyenoord and AZ but later fought back into the squad. Last season Gaaei alternated between the starting eleven and the bench, illustrating his fluctuating role. If he departs, Josip Sutalo will become the last remaining player signed by Mislintat at Ajax, as the ten other Mislintat signings have already left. Besides Gaaei, Gastón Ávila could return to Ajax at the end of the calendar year when his loan spell at Rosario Central concludes, adding another potential change to the squad.
