Pérez Llorca blames Peter Lim for Valencia’s stagnation

In the 20 minutes studio, under the light of the Veolia and Saica panels, the president of the Valencian Community, Juan Francisco Pérez Llorca, spoke this Tuesday about Valencia's current situation after the sale of 42 % to an investment fund became known a few days ago. Pérez Llorca noted that the problem lies with Peter Lim and recalled that Valencia The club is not just a business.
Sale of 42 % to investment fund
The president explained that the recent deal, which transferred 42 % of Valencia to a fund, has generated expectations of new capital. “The problem is Peter Lim,” he stated clearly during the regional 20 minutes cycle.
In response to Jesús Morales, director of 20 minutes, Pérez Llorca welcomed the fund, saying “I have read the news that there is a fund that will provide money to Valencia and may it be welcome.” He added that the club needs more than investors, as it is an institution rooted in the community.
Criticism of Peter Lim's management
Pérez Llorca criticized that Lim sees Valencia as a dividend‑driven company from Singapore, thousands of kilometres away, and stated that this view disregards the local football culture. He noted that treating the club as a business distances the essence of the sport.
He compared Lim's attitude to that of Juan Roig, owner of Valencia Basket, who, according to the president, treats his club as a sentiment and community project, not as a profit‑driven business. The comparison highlights the difference between a community‑based management and one focused on profit.
He concluded that, although the new investors are welcome and are expected to improve the financial situation, the real problem lies with the club's president, who has not understood what Valencia means.
