Perez doubts Xavi Hernandez's salary at the KNVB
Kenneth Perez has publicly expressed his doubts about the salary that Xavi Hernandez would receive as national team coach of the KNVB, according to the German media. Perez, who responded during, wants to first know how reliable the figures are before he makes a judgment.
Sources and figures in the top ten
The German media outlet published last week a list of the highest‑paid national team coaches in the world, in which Xavi is ranked number eight. Above Xavi are, among others, Zinedine Zidane, who according to the list earns €3.6 million per year, and Carlo Ancelotti, who occupies the first place with €10 million.
In a response to the reporting, Perez said: “First I want to know how reliable this is.” He said he would not comment until he knew whether it was true and later added that he had seen the list on. Perez said the rumor that the KNVB had to cut costs on a fourth goalkeeper at the World Cup could mean that €3 million is needed to secure a suitable candidate. “But three million does sound like a lot. I think three hundred,” he joked.
The discussion around the alleged salary of Xavi remains open, while the KNVB itself has not yet commented on the figures.
