Parrott's decisive pass lifts Betis into La Liga third place
Real Betis have been hunting a creative spark in attack, and Republic of Ireland striker Troy Parrott answered that call with a slick assist before half‑time, helping the Seville side secure their fifth league win of the campaign on Thursday night.
Match impact and table shift
Betis edged Getafe 1‑0 at the Benito Villamarin, the lone goal coming from winger Abde Ezzalzouli. The victory lifted the club to third place in the La Liga table, leaving them within three points of leaders Barcelona after six rounds of action.
Parrott, who had been an unused substitute in Betis’ 2‑1 win over Villareal on Monday, was introduced later and produced the decisive pass that unlocked Getafe’s defence.
The Dublin forward set up Abde Ezzalzouli for the match’s only goal, after testing the opposition twice before the break – first from the centre circle and later inside the box.
Betis travel to face Deportivo de A Coruna on Sunday night at 5.30pm Irish time, their final domestic fixture before a month‑long international break, with Parrott hoping to keep his form for Ireland’s UEFA Nations League campaign.
