Parisian controversy: the real reason for Kylian Mbappé's move
On September 30, Kylian Mbappé, captain of the French national team and forward for Real Madrid C.F., landed in Paris, sparking a heated controversy in Spain while he was recovering.
The newspaper L’Équipe reveals that this trip was part of a major judicial procedure, not just a personal matter.
Judicial investigation surrounding Mohamed Sanhadji
Mbappé appeared before the IGPN, the General Inspectorate of the National Police, to answer questions about his financial ties to Mohamed Sanhadji, former security chief of the French national team.
Sanhadji, indicted on September 16 for corruption, fraud and money laundering, is at the centre of investigations into several financial flows, including a €60 300 donation made by Mbappé in June 2023 from his World Cup 2022 bonuses.
The judiciary is also examining a €120 000 loan request and Mbappé's presence during a family trip to Cameroon in July 2023.
Mbappé's mother, Fayza Lamari, was heard as an assisted witness and accused of having approached the former police officer to obtain four visas for relatives.
Other sports and entertainment figures, including Franck Ribéry, Jamel Debbouze, Noël Le Graët and Philippe Diallo, have also been interviewed as part of this far‑reaching procedure.
