Panathinaikos close to signing Anass Salah-Eddine from AS Roma

Anass Salah-Eddine, the 24‑year‑old Moroccan left‑back, can still leave AS Roma this week, reports the Italian branch of Sky Sport and is confirmed by Gianluca Di Marzio. Panathinaikos have a concrete offer for a loan deal with a purchase option, and the clubs are close to an agreement.

Background of the transfer

The thirteen‑time international of Morocco, Anass Salah‑Eddine, played on loan for PSV last season, which had a purchase option from Roma. He refused that option because he hoped for more opportunities in the Italian capital, but it quickly became clear that there were few playing minutes for him.

In the summer Olympiacos and West Ham United were genuinely interested, but both clubs received no response from Salah‑Eddine and did not sign him.

This season Salah‑Eddine has not yet played a minute for AS Roma, prompting him to now look for a new opportunity to continue his career.

The transfer window in Greece closes on Tuesday evening at 23:59, meaning Panathinaikos must act quickly if they want to finalize the deal.

AS Roma paid roughly eight and a half million euros to FC Twente at the start of 2025 to release the player. A year earlier PSV had transferred only €750,000 to Ajax for the same player.

Salah‑Eddine remains contractually bound to AS Roma until mid‑2028, meaning any permanent move depends on the option in the loan agreement.
