Oviedo pay heavy price for derby win as Ramos suffers cruciate break

Injury crisis deepens

Medical examinations confirmed a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in Ramos’ right knee, according to the club’s medical team. The diagnosis means the 27‑year‑old will miss at least the remainder of the season. The club’s director of football expressed deep disappointment.

The offensive line now faces a shortage. Defender Carlos Fernández recently underwent arthroscopy and will be sidelined for several weeks. Forward Alexandru Ișfan also suffered a muscle injury before the derby, leaving Mingo as the only remaining striking reference.

Manager Nicolás Larcamón admitted the loss of Ramos has cast a shadow over the triumph. “Estoy muy triste y fastidiado con la lesión de Chris Ramos, ha salido cara ese gol”, he said after the match. He also highlighted that the side had “problemas en el último tercio” during the game.

The club’s board, represented by Orlegi Sports, remains supportive of Larcamón’s project, but warned that continued poor results could force “strong decisions” at the Mareo training ground. With only ten points from seven matches, the pressure to improve intensifies.
