Optimism grows at Tottenham as Kulusevski nears comeback
In the early hours of a bright Tuesday at Hotspur Way, Alasdair Gold captured a fleeting glimpse of Dejan Kulusevski sprinting into the centre of a small‑sided drill, his eyes bright and his passes crisp. The 26‑year‑old Swedish attacker, sidelined for more than 500 days, appears to be edging closer to a first‑team return, sparking fresh optimism among a Spurs side desperate for points.
Rehabilitation gains momentum
Gold noted that the extended international break has afforded Kulusevski crucial extra time to rebuild his fitness, and several reports now suggest he could be ready to feature in the coming weeks. The player’s progress, according to insiders, has already lifted the morale of his teammates as Tottenham fight to climb out of the bottom of the table after a disastrous start.
While Kulusevski has previously been deployed as a No.10 under Ange Postecoglou, he has spent most of his Tottenham career on the right wing. The latest training footage, however, shows him operating centrally, feeding teammate Mohammed Kudus with incisive passes that led to two mini‑game goals.
“The 26‑year‑old looked bright in the training footage from this week and set up teammate Mohammed Kudus for a couple of goals with some incisive passing,” Gold wrote on Football.London.
Gold speculated that, once fully fit, Kulusevski could become the number 10 De Zerbi turns to, complementing James Maddison and, eventually, Xavi Simons, rather than returning to his pre‑injury wing role.
Adarabioyo’s vocal leadership
The same four‑minute video also highlighted the presence of summer signing Tosin Adarabioyo. Gold heard the former Chelsea defender’s voice constantly barking instructions, a contrast to the quieter backline Tottenham has fielded.
“There was one noticeable player voice constantly heard during the training sessions, and that was summer signing Tosin Adarabioyo,” Gold observed.
Gold added that Adarabioyo’s vocal and physical presence could be vital, especially after Jan Paul van Hecke suffered a toe injury following a clash with Aston Villa’s Nicolas Jackson.
With Kulusevski’s rehabilitation gaining pace and Adarabioyo’s leadership emerging, Tottenham Hotspur appear to be rebuilding both creativity and defensive confidence ahead of their next fixtures.
