Sevilla dismisses Sergio Ramos takeover attempt

🇪🇸

Sergio Ramos will not take over Sevilla after the proposed acquisition collapsed. Sevilla announced that the deal fell apart and said the club felt betrayed.

The 40-year-old defender left CF Monterrey and has been without a club since his departure. Ramos had been linked with a move back to his former club as part of an ownership bid.

Ramos and an investment firm were reportedly preparing a takeover of Sevilla, the club where he began his professional career. The plan envisioned Ramos returning to his youth club in an executive capacity.

The agreement was terminated before any formal transfer of ownership was signed. Sevilla stated that the termination left them in a difficult position.

Club officials described the situation as feeling set up in their own shirt. They emphasized the emotional significance of Sevilla as Ramos's childhood football home.

Sevilla will now look for alternative investors to fund future projects. Ramos remains a free agent, awaiting his next professional step.
