Olise exceeds all expectations at Bayern in the new season stretch

Fans of Bayern Munich thought that Michael Olise had already shown his best performance in his second full season, but the current campaign tells a different story. The 24‑year‑old winger has already scored eight goals and provided three assists in all competitions. With that, he far exceeds expectations.

Comparison with the previous season

At the close of the 2025/26 season, Olise was crowned Bundesliga Player of the Season after he had scored 15 goals and provided 19 assists in the league alone. Across all competitions he reached 22 goals and 29 assists, a tally that already made him the Rookie‑of‑the‑Year winner 2024/25. Together with Harry Kane and Luis Díaz he formed the record‑breaking attacking trio of the record champions.

With this record, Olise became the first player since Jadon Sancho and only the second since the 2004/05 season to record at least 15 goals and 15 assists in a single Bundesliga campaign. This marked a milestone for the club and for the league.

Current season: goals, assists and efficiency

To date, Olise has scored four goals in four appearances, sharing the lead of the early scorer list. Two of his shots hit the wood frame – more than any other player in the league. His hat‑trick against Union Berlin and the goal against VfB Stuttgart on the first matchday underline his versatility.

He has already taken 18 shots – more than any other player in the Bundesliga 2026/27 – and has also attempted 18 dribbles, the current league maximum. He won 55 percent of 47 duels, an impressive figure for an attacking player, while ten teammates were able to win more tackles. His expected goals are about 1.7 higher than his actual conversion rate, making him one of the most clinical players in the league.

Impact in cup and European competitions

In the recent DFB Cup and Champions League opening matches Olise also found the net. He also delivered a goal and an assist in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup against Borussia Dortmund, bringing his tally to eight goals and three assists after seven appearances across all competitions.

Coach Vincent Kompany, who also leads the Belgian national team, praised the Frenchman: “Michael Olise is the all‑round package. He has been playing at this level for almost two and a half years.” According to the caption by Christian Kaspar‑Bartke, Olise has thus become an indispensable building block of the team.

The juxtaposition of the impressive figures from previous years with the achievements already recorded this season makes clear that Olise not only confirms his earlier best form, but even surpasses it. For Bayern Munich this means having a player who further enhances the club’s attacking potential.
