Okoye admits Inter were too strong as Udinese's hopes dim

Udinese’s title hopes were dented after a 5‑3 loss to Inter Milan at the San Siro, leaving the visitors on four points and forcing them to regroup for their upcoming clash with Cagliari on Saturday in Serie A as they chase European qualification.

Udinese burst into life, racing to a two‑goal lead inside the opening fifteen minutes. James Abankwah opened the scoring, and Jurgen Ekkelenkamp doubled the advantage before the half hour.

Inter overturns early deficit

Inter responded swiftly, restoring parity within ten minutes. Carlos Augusto struck first, followed by Niccolò Barella, bringing the visitors level and shifting momentum.

Marcus Thuram then completed the comeback three minutes before the hour mark, putting Inter ahead for the first time.

The Serie A champions continued to press, with Francesco Pio Esposito and Ange‑Yoan Bonny adding two further goals to make it 5‑2.

Idrissa Gueye scored a late consolation in stoppage time, but it was insufficient to avoid defeat.

Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye reflects on the match, telling the club’s website: “It’s always difficult against Inter at San Siro. They play very attacking football and don’t stop even after scoring three or four goals. We also had our chances, but they are too strong.” Completesports.com reported his comments.

The loss leaves Udinese on four points, while they now turn their attention to the next league fixture against Cagliari at the Bluenergy Stadium on Saturday.
