Officially HSV releases star jean-Luc Dompé to turkey
Officially, HSV have confirmed that star Jean‑Luc Dompé is leaving the club as the transfer window draws to a close, with the French winger terminating his contract and moving to Turkish side Konyaspor with immediate effect after being excluded from training in early August and labelled the club’s biggest worry.
Dompe was excluded from the team’s training sessions at the beginning of August (Anfang August) and was told to find a new club, a move that saw him leave the Hamburger SV training ground (Mannschaftstraining).
He broke his tents (Zelte) on the banks of the Elbe River with immediate effect (Wirkung), as the club moves to part ways with its biggest worry (Sorgenkind) just before the end (Ende) of the transfer period (Transferperiode).
Exclusion and Immediate Exit
The winger has signed a two‑year contract with Turkish club Konyaspor, where he will wear the number 91 shirt, joining his new Verein without any transfer fee.
Reports confirm that no fee was paid for the move, allowing the Rothosen to remove the high‑earning player from their wage bill.
New Chapter in Turkey
Dompe originally arrived in Hamburg in 2022 from Zulte Waregem for €1.1 million and was a key figure in the promotion campaign of the 2024/25 season, though his influence faded in the Bundesliga.
His off‑field conduct, including an alcohol‑related incident, contributed to the decision by sporting director Merlin Polzin to cease relying on the French midfielder.
“Jean‑Luc was undoubtedly an important player for us in the 2. Bundesliga and helped us achieve promotion last summer,” said sports director Claus Costa. “We thank him and wish him and his family all the best. Eine statement from the club confirmed the details. Domp and Luc were mentioned in the release, and the club reiterated its gratitude.
