Official Barça signing adds speed: Adeyemi joins the attack

Barcelona moved to fill a clear need for more attacking depth, expanding the options created by Anthony Gordon’s arrival and providing a reliable understudy for teenage sensation Lamine Yamal. The club announced on Thursday that 24‑year‑old German winger Karim Adeyemi has joined from Borussia Dortmund for an estimated €22 million.

Adeyemi’s signing completes Barcelona’s second major attacking acquisition of the summer, following Anthony Gordon. The announcement was accompanied by the club’s excited declaration, “He’s finally here.”

Barça’s recruitment strategy explicitly aims to broaden its attacking arsenal. Adding a player with Adeyemi’s profile aligns with that objective.

Adeyemi brings notable speed, directness and the ability to operate across the front line. Those qualities give head coach Hansi Flick an additional tactical option.

He is expected to start as backup to Lamine Yamal. Adeyemi can also cover the opposite flank or a central position when required.

Flick’s familiarity with Adeyemi stems from his time as Germany’s national team coach. He previously managed the German winger, ensuring a clear understanding of his strengths.

The €22 million fee underscores Barcelona’s intent to deepen the squad. It signals a continued investment in attacking talent after the Gordon deal.

For Barcelona, Adeyemi adds depth and versatility to the attack. For the 24‑year‑old, the move offers regular top‑flight exposure and the chance to learn under Flick’s guidance.
