Norway-Portugal LIVE: VAR cancels Gonçalo Ramos' second goal

Follow LIVE the Nations League clash between Norway and Portugal: the 2-1 victory for Portugal, confirmed by VAR, keeps hopes of topping the group alive, while Norway remains in the fight for first place, having already beaten the scheduled rivals. Subscribe to NOW GOAL for the best offers.

VAR cancels the second Portuguese goal

In the 59th minute, Gonçalo Ramos scores the third goal, taking the score to 3-1, but VAR cancels the goal for an irregular position. Two minutes earlier, in the 57th minute, Ramos had missed an empty shot, losing the chance to complete a brace. In the 54th minute, the Milan player Ramos had instead scored a valid goal, exploiting a pass from Nyland and a chip that fooled the Norwegian goalkeeper.

Portugal scores with Felix and Ramos

In the 17th minute Joao Felix opens the scoring for Portugal, with an assist from Nuno Mendes that puts him in position. In the 54th minute Ramos, already a protagonist, adds his goal, confirming the Portuguese advantage. Portugal has fielded from the first minute the Milan player Gonçalo Ramos and the Juventus player Conceicao, with Cristiano Ronaldo on the bench.

Norway responds with Haaland

In the 51st minute Erling Haaland scores Norway's goal, exploiting a free kick from Odegaard saved by Diogo Costa. In the 35th minute Nusa delivers a perfect cross that Haaland heads in, consolidating the offensive pressure. In the 24th minute Diogo Costa poorly deflects a cross from Odegaard, but Ruben Dias makes a decisive intervention to save Portugal.

Line-ups, injuries and bench

Juventus player Conceicao was forced to leave the field due to a left‑knee injury, but returned after the break. Portugal started with Gonçalo Ramos, Joao Felix, Joao Neves, Pedro Neto, Leao, Conceicao, Palhinha, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, Cancelo, Dias, Veiga and Diogo Costa, under the guidance of Jorge Jesus, while Norway lined up Nyland, Ryerson (replaced in the 67th minute by Ostigard), Ajer, Heggem, Aursnes, Odegaard, Berge, Berg (replaced in the 72nd minute by Bobb), Schjelderup, Haaland and Nusa, with coach Ståle Solbakken.

The context of the Nations League

The match is the marquee game of Group 4 of League A of the Nations League, where Norway and Portugal are the candidates for first place. The group also includes Denmark and Wales, which the two national teams have beaten respectively 3-2 and 1-0 in the first round. With the victory, Portugal remains in the race for the top, while Norway still needs to recover crucial points.

The next round will see the two sides face the remaining group opponents, with the standings still open and the battle for qualification to the Nations League final stage hotter than ever.
