Njie Mi chooses Fiorentina, inspired by Leao, without Vanoli in Turin
Alieu Njie Mi held his first press conference today at Viola Park, officially introducing himself as the new Fiorentina player, upcoming opponent of Napoli, and said he draws confidence from the comparison with Leao, as well as having had difficulties without Vanoli in Turin.
The past in Turin
Njie spent five years in Turin, where he gained most of his experience. He made his first‑team debut at eighteen/nineteen years old, but acknowledged that he did not have continuity under other coaches after Vanoli's departure.
Ambitions in Florence
The bond with coach Vanoli was decisive for his development: “It’s thanks to him that I made my Serie A debut, I want to thank him a lot for that,” Njie said. Having Vanoli back in Florence, according to the young striker, makes it easier to understand the required tactical role.
The comparison with Rafael Leao gives him confidence; “Everyone compares me to Leao but I want to be myself, this gives me confidence because he has done very well in Italy,” he explained.
Allegri wanted to sign Doumbia for Milan and Napoli, but Sporting have him
Njie describes himself as a player who wants to get the crowd on their feet: “Every time I have the ball I expect to do something good, that’s my way of playing football.” With Fiorentina, he aims to contribute to the project that convinced him, especially ahead of the upcoming clash with Napoli.
His Serie A debut came against Milan, when he wore the maroon shirt. After that experience, he chose Fiorentina to continue his personal and professional growth, stating: “It concerns my personal growth and as a professional, I’m happy to be here.”
Regarding the coach, he reiterated: “Vanoli? With him it’s easy, it’s easy for me to understand what I have to do on the pitch.”
