Newcastle’s €30 million bid meets Nkunku’s Leipzig preference

Report from Italy says Newcastle United have tabled the most favourable €30 million offer for AC Milan’s France international Christopher Nkunku, yet the player says he would rather return to RB Leipzig, where he enjoyed his most prolific spell after being excluded from coach Ruben Amorim’s squad and denied a shirt number this season.

Newcastle’s €30 million bid

Italian reports state that Newcastle United have put forward a €30 million proposal for AC MILAN’s France international Christopher Nkunku, which Calciomercato describes as the most favourable terms on the table.

RB Leipzig, where Nkunku recorded 70 goals and 56 assists in 172 games between 2019 and 2023, remains his preferred destination,

Coach Ruben Amorim has left the former Chelsea forward out of his plans at AC Milan, excluding him from the squad and not assigning a shirt number for the current campaign.

The striker is on the market only a year after his €37 million plus add‑ons transfer from Chelsea, during which he logged eight goals and three assists across 35 competitive appearances for Milan.

Chelsea’s €60 million transfer

His form declined following the €60 million move to Chelsea in the summer of 2023, a period in which he never fully recovered his earlier productivity.

Galatasaray also approached the France international, but Nkunku indicated no interest in that option.

Transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano both Newcastle United and RB Leipzig are in direct contact with Milan, although neither negotiation has reached an advanced stage.

A photo from May 10, 2026 shows Christopher Nkunku scoring a penalty for AC Milan against Atalanta BC at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in ITALY.
