New Tottenham defeat: De Zerbi under fire from Liverpool
New defeat for the Spurs: without Bradley Barcola at kickoff, Roberto De Zerbi sees his Tottenham eliminated from the League Cup by Liverpool this Tuesday evening, in the third round of the English League Cup. The supporters saw their hopes vanish quickly.
Match at Anfield: two scores, one winner
Sources differ on the final result: some indicate a 3-1 victory for Liverpool, others report 2-1. The Reds opened the scoring thanks to Alexis Mac Allister in the 21st minute, before Cody Gakpo doubled the lead in the 54th minute.
Harvey Gallagher reduced the gap in the 69th minute, but Dominik Szoboszlai sealed the result in the 90+1 minute. Bradley Barcola came on in the 71st minute, marking his average appearance.
In the Premier League, the Spurs have not won a match since the start of the season, accumulating two defeats and two draws. This winless run fuels criticism around the Italian coach.
Arsenal shines while Tottenham sinks
The same evening, Arsenal offered a spectacle at Ipswich by winning 4-2 in the Carabao Cup, thanks to a brace from Dowman and goals from Madueke and Merino.
This elimination strengthens the pressure on Roberto De Zerbi, whose position at the head of the Spurs becomes increasingly precarious. The board now seem to be on the hot seat.
