Neurological scare forces Bayern’s Musiala off in Heidenheim friendly

In the modest town of Heidenheim on Tuesday, Bayern Munich’s rising star Jamal Musiala collapsed off the ball during a friendly, prompting an immediate rush of team doctors onto the pitch. The scene unfolded just minutes after he entered as a substitute, turning a routine warm‑up into a startling medical emergency for the German international.

Team doctors helped Musiala off the field on Tuesday, and the incident was captured in a photo credited to © IMAGO/Pressefoto ULMER / Markus Ulmer. The image shows the midfielder being assisted as staff attend to his condition.

Earlier in the week, Musiala had also appeared to collapse off the ball in Bayern’s friendly against RB Leipzig on Saturday, a match that preceded the final summer warm‑up against Heidenheim. He was part of Vincent Kompany’s squad for that Tuesday game and was forced off again just minutes after coming off the bench in the second half.

Following the Heidenheim episode, Musiala posted an update on his Instagram channel, beginning with gratitude: “First things first – I’m doing well. I’m especially grateful for all your messages and your support.” He acknowledged fans’ concerns and promised to explain his condition.

He disclosed that doctors diagnosed him with brief, temporary but readily treatable absences caused by a neurological dysfunction, stating: “I have been diagnosed with brief, temporary but readily treatable absences, which are caused by a neurological dysfunction.” These episodes, he explained, account for the incidents against Leipzig and now Heidenheim.

Musiala reassured supporters, saying the episodes “may seem scary at first glance – but for me, they are currently part of my everyday life,” and that “there is no further health risk beyond this.” He expressed optimism, noting he is receiving the best possible medical treatment and feels “on the right track.”

Bayern will face Borussia Dortmund in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup on Saturday 22 August before opening the Bundesliga season at home to VfB Stuttgart on Friday 28 August, underscoring the club’s forward focus. UlmerbundesligaJamal Heidenheim18.08.2026SummaryBayern
