Nedum Onuoha doubts Arteta’s long‑term future at Arsenal

Mikel Arteta has been in charge at Arsenal since December 2019, but former Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha says he is not set to become the club’s long‑term manager, according to a recent interview. The comment comes as the Gunners enjoy a period of unprecedented success.

Artura’s trophy haul

Artura took over in December 2019 and immediately lifted the FA Cup in his first season, laying the foundations for this year’s triumphs. The Gunners secured the Premier League title last season and reached the Champions League final, only to lose on penalties to Paris Saint‑Germain. Their league victory makes them favourites to retain the crown this campaign.

Onuoha predicts departure

Onuoha believes Artura will be gone within three or four years, possibly heading to Barcelona, and doubts he will stay ten years, which would be a rare tenure in the Premier League. “I don’t see Arteta being at Arsenal for like another three or four years, to be honest. Because that will take him to 10 years,” he said.

Artura is now in the final twelve months of the contract he extended in 2024. He recently reassured supporters, saying there is nothing for them to worry about and that he is extremely happy at the club.

With a squad packed with top quality, the champions are expected to chase another league crown and aim to go one step further in Europe.

Hansi Flick currently leads Barcelona, highlighting the allure of the Spanish giants for managers like Artura.
