NEC takes hard hits in Turin, Juventus dominates
In Turin Juventus took a 0‑3 lead against NEC after just nine minutes against the Italian top club. The Nijmegen side, who had traveled to the Allianz Stadium, are under heavy pressure from an attacking line that, under Dick Schreuder's guidance, works excellently.
Quick attack by Juventus
Juventus responded immediately with an early goal from Nicolas Gonzalez, who put the score at 1‑0. After just 24 minutes, Kerim Alajbegović found the opening and scored the second goal, leaving NEC's defence completely exposed. The quick combinations and the physical presence of the Italian attackers made it difficult for the Nijmegen side to get back into the game.
The Italian side, under the leadership of Luciano Spalletti, left no chance to increase the pressure. NEC struggled to find possession and saw their defence repeatedly come under fire. This resulted in an early period of dominance for Juventus, who continued the match at home.
Penalty and third goal
Shortly afterwards, Algumera Kabar committed a serious foul in the penalty area. Nick Woltemade neatly converted the penalty, putting Juventus up 3‑0 in the 35th minute, before the match was paused. With a three‑goal deficit, it was virtually impossible for NEC to mount a comeback.
