NEC Schuurs happy to return to Torino and aims to beat Juventus
NEC defender Perr Schuurs, back in Italy after almost two years out with injuries, spoke yesterday in Turin at a press conference on the eve of the match against Juventus, saying he was happy to see former teammates again and wants to win the game.
The return to Turin and the clash against Juventus
Schuurs recalled that injuries kept him in the box for practically two years, a period he described as “very unlucky”. Nevertheless, he expressed enthusiasm for the match against Juve, calling it “special”.
The defender emphasized that he feels at home in Turin: “Our hotel is close to my old apartment” and added that he has been in Italy for four years, without having returned to the Netherlands for a long time.
He confirmed that he has spoken to several former teammates and members of the Torino staff, adding that it’s always nice to see familiar faces and the medical staff again.
During the conference, Schuurs said: “I’m happy to play in Europe” and reiterated his desire to win tomorrow’s match against Juventus.
The contrast between a past marred by injuries and the current optimism shows how NEC’s defender is determined to prove his worth in the biggest European showdown.
