Napoli’s Vlahovic chase depends on Lukaku’s Stadio Maradona exit

Napoli’s Vlahovic chase depends on Lukaku’s Stadio Maradona exit

June 30 marked the end of Dusan Vlahovic’s contract with Juventus, leaving the 26‑year‑old Serbian striker a free agent and prompting Napoli could move for him if Romelu Lukaku departs the Stadio Maradona this summer in Serie A. The free‑agent status has been in effect for the last few weeks after the Juventus deal expired on June 30, and the Bianconeri failed to secure a new contract before the deadline.

Italian reports suggest Napoli will consider signing the Serbia international if Lukaku leaves the Stadio Maradona and the club also parts ways with Lorenzo Lucca. The potential departure of both forwards would leave Rasmus Hojlund as Napoli’s only senior centre‑forward.

Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna held talks with Vlahovic’s father‑agent at the beginning of June, indicating serious interest from the Partenopei. These discussions underline Napoli’s intent to strengthen their attack should the Lukaku and Lucca exits materialise.

Should Lukaku and Lucca exit, Vlahovic could become a genuine possibility for Napoli, a club that coached him at Juventus and previously tried to bring him to Milan during the last summer window. A reunion could see Massimiliano Allegri reunite with his former forward.

Besiktas remains the only club with concrete interest reported, while Juventus have not entirely closed the door on Vlahovic. Both clubs continue to monitor the Serbian striker’s options.

Any agreement would require significant compromises from both sides, as noted by Italian sources. Vlahovic’s free‑agent status highlights the fluidity of the summer market, with Serie A clubs like Napoli scouting experienced forwards amid potential departures.

The situation is being closely watched across ITALY as teams balance squad needs and financial considerations, reflecting broader trends in the Italian transfer market.
