Napoli's pursuit of Gabriel Jesus meets Arsenal's high price tag

Napoli are evaluating a move for 29‑year‑old striker Gabriel Jesus, with conditions still under review, after the report first appeared on “ge” and was later confirmed by Trivela. The Italian side sees the Brazilian forward as a priority despite talks not yet progressing.

Arsenal have made clear they will only consider offers of at least €20 million, roughly R$ 117.9 million, setting a firm financial floor for any potential deal. This valuation forms the basis of the ongoing negotiations between the clubs.

Os days of Gabriel Jesus at Arsenal may be numbered, yet the player remains a top target for Napoli, which previously attempted a signing in 2023 but the striker chose to stay in England.

A further obstacle is the wage gap; Jesus enjoys high Premier League earnings that would be difficult to match in Serie A, according to Trivela’s reporting. Al, the salary disparity could prove a decisive factor in the transfer’s feasibility.

Both parties are still assessing Arsenal’s asking price, and no agreement has been reached on the financial terms or personal conditions. The clubs have not moved beyond this evaluative stage.

Jesus has expressed a desire to remain in England, where he will complete ten years this season and views Arsenal as a strong platform for his Brazil national team ambitions. He also prefers a move to another Premier League club should a transfer materialise.

Beyond financial concerns, the striker seeks more regular playing time; a switch to Napoli could provide the minutes he desires while he chases personal milestones, such as becoming the leading Brazilian scorer in Premier League history and adding to his five league titles.

In the previous season Jesus featured in 27 matches, starting only nine, and in the current 2026/27 campaign he began both friendlies on the bench, scoring in a 4‑1 win over Girona and later appearing as a substitute in a 3‑1 loss to Betis. Since joining Arsenal in July 2023 he has amassed 123 appearances, 32 goals and 18 assists, and was part of the squad that ended a 22‑year Premier League trophy drought.

The contrast between Napoli’s ambition and Arsenal’s financial and wage demands highlights the complexity of the deal, suggesting that salary expectations and the player’s adaptation preferences may ultimately dictate whether the transfer proceeds.
