Napoli's contract deadlock: Anguissa rejects offer, Meret talks stall

Napoli faces a critical contract crossroads as midfielder Sofyan Anguissa has turned down a renewal and goalkeeper Alex Meret remains without renewal talks, leaving the club uneasy about their futures. The club also fears Juventus may be influencing Anguissa’s stance, adding further uncertainty to Napoli’s squad planning.

Renewal talks stall for Meret

RAI’s transfer expert Ciro Venerato told the live programme Domenica Sportiva that, Tutto fermo per Meret, there are currently no renewal negotiations. The club’s silence on the goalkeeper’s future was highlighted. It was noted that two pillars of manager Francesco Allegri – Meret and Anguissa – have contracts running out in 2027. Oltre al calciomercato in entrata, Napoli must now allocate proper focus to these renewal issues. Per Meret, no dialogue has been opened.

For Anguissa, Napoli tabled a five‑million‑euro‑per‑year contract, yet the player is demanding six million. Venerato noted the gap and added that the club suspects the midfielder may be aiming for a free transfer.

The suspicion that Juventus could be behind Anguissa’s stance was also voiced by Venerato, who warned that the player might prefer to leave on a zero‑cost deal.

The report opened with the symbols Stampa A− A+, echoing the technical nature of the contract discussion. Such notation reflects the media’s focus on the contractual intricacies.

Napoli’s upcoming transfer window will now be heavily influenced by the outcomes of these negotiations, with the club needing clarity on both positions to solidify its squad.
