Napoli's bid for free‑transfer Champions League winner Ceballos

Napoli have lodged a concrete offer for 30‑year‑old Spanish midfielder Dani Ceballos, a free‑transfer Champions League winner, after his departure from Real Madrid sparked interest from several European clubs.

Free‑transfer status after Real Madrid

Ceballos left Real Madrid at the end of June, despite a contract that originally ran until 2027. The former Spanish national player is now on the market without a transfer fee, having made 215 official appearances for the Royal club and winning the Champions League three times.

His career began at Real Betis, where he was trained before moving to Real Madrid in 2017. Over seven years in Madrid he added three Champions League medals to his résumé and established himself as a seasoned midfielder.

Napoli’s concrete offer and other suitors

According to information from Sportal Italia, SSC Napoli have submitted a specific offer to the player’s advisors. Coach Massimiliano Allegri, who signed a contract with Napoli until 2029, could gain an experienced midfield option through the deal.

Real Betis remains keen on a return, with the club reportedly preferring Ceballos but needing to create financial space first. The Spaniard’s advisors are reviewing multiple proposals, including Napoli’s, before any decision is taken.

While Napoli have taken the initiative, no final agreement has been reached. The midfielder’s representatives continue to weigh the offers, balancing the appeal of a Serie A move against a possible homecoming to Betis.
