Musiala’s seizure diagnosis exposes hidden health battle
Bayern Munich winger Jamal Musiala, 23, disclosed he suffers from treatable absence seizures after collapsing for the second time in four days, falling eight minutes after entering as a substitute in Bayern’s friendly against FC Heidenheim on Tuesday night in Germany.
Saturday’s similar collapse
The collapse follows a similar incident in Saturday’s friendly against RB Leipzig. Despite the repeat, the Germany international emphasized there is no long‑term health risk.
Musiala posted the explanation on Instagram, opening with “First things first, I am doing well.” He thanked fans for their messages and support.
In the same post he disclosed a diagnosis of brief, temporary – but treatable – absence seizures caused by a neurological dysfunction. He said these episodes explain the incidents in the Leipzig and Heidenheim matches.
Musiala acknowledged the episodes may look alarming, yet he described them as part of his everyday life and confirmed he is receiving excellent medical care. He expressed optimism about his recovery.
He added that, with the clearance of neurologists and close consultation with experts, there is no further health risk and he intends to continue living his life and pursuing his passion for football. He highlighted the support of FC Bayern and his personal network.
Musiala took full responsibility for his decision to share the information, stating he feels positive and on the right track. He said chasing victories and titles with his team motivates him and asked for privacy, limiting the matter to his close circle, the club and medical experts.
