Musiala reveals epilepsy diagnosis after second collapse

Bayern München midfielder Jamal Musiala, 23, spoke on Tuesday evening after collapsing for the second time in four days during the match against Heidenheim, revealing he has been diagnosed with an absence syndrome – a form of epilepsy – and assuring fans that he is receiving treatment and feels fine.

Musiala wrote on social media that ‘First of all I want to say that I’m fine. I understand many of you are worried and I would like to explain.’ He added that the condition is temporary, short‑lived but treatable.

He clarified that the absence syndrome is caused by a neurological disorder and that, according to his doctors, there is no further health risk. Dat statement aims to calm concerns among supporters.

Medical explanation

Musiala explained that similar medical situations occurred during recent games against RB Leipzig and Heidenheim, which can trigger the syndrome. Het condition is managed with regular specialist consultations and medication, and he receives excellent care.

The Tuesday evening incident against Heidenheim saw Musiala collapse again, but his right foot rose quickly and he was able to walk to the dressing room under medical supervision. He emphasized that he remains optimistic about his recovery.

He also fell to the ground in the Saturday match versus RB Leipzig, an earlier episode that prompted the same medical assessment. Both incidents have been closely monitored by Bayern München’s medical team.

Musiala concluded by thanking fans for their support, requesting privacy, and expressing confidence that he can continue his daily life and pursue his football passion. He reiterated his gratitude to Bayern, his family and friends.
