Musah: Amorim gave me confidence after the Cup disappointment
Yunus Musah said he is happy that Ruben Amorim gave him a second chance at Milan, after being left out of the World Cup 2026 squad. The American midfielder, from America, started the season with numerous matches, showing that managers still believe in him.
The path from Atalanta to Milan
The American spent last season on loan at Atalanta, but was incorporated into Ruben Amorim's plans at the San Siro. So far he has made six appearances for Milan, accumulating 419 minutes of play, and has been given a prominent role in the squad.
Amorim wrote to Musah before pre‑season to assure him a place in the team. “I thought it was just a manager’s line, but then I saw that I was playing a lot,” Musah said, confirming the truth of the promise. What Amorim had told him turned out to be true.
On 08 MARCH, during the Serie A match against LECCE (Lecce), Tete Morente challenged Musah in the defensive area. The match, played in LECCE, ITALY, showcased the young midfielder’s contribution to Milan.
The return to the USA national team
Musah was called up to the USMNT (USA) for the international break, after being left out of the World Cup. He played the matches against Peru and Mexico, two of the team's three most recent fixtures.
“It was hard not to take part in the World Cup, but I felt I deserved the return,” Musah said. He adds that the managers’ confidence is essential for his development.
During the summer he spent time in Ghana and Zanzibar, away from social media. “I wasn’t on the phones, I was out with the locals,” he said, explaining that the last week he began preparing for pre‑season in Milan, a return to the America of his heart.
Musah’s contract with Milan expires in June 2028, guaranteeing the club the midfielder’s presence for the coming years, provided he continues to earn minutes and confidence.
