Mourinho’s push fuels Fulham’s high‑fee chase for Garcia

Premier League side Fulham have placed a significant fee on the table this summer to sign Spanish forward Gonzalo Garcia from Real Madrid, a move publicly championed by manager José Mourinho, who says he wants the striker under his command next season.

Fulham, led by Alvaro Arbeloa, have labelled Garcia their top transfer target and are prepared to meet the significant fee to secure him outright, while Real Madrid would keep a percentage of any future rights. Mourinho’s early endorsement underscores his confidence in the Spanish forward’s ability to bolster the London club’s attack.

While Real Madrid have focused this summer on strengthening the midfield and defence, the club also plans changes to its attack for the upcoming season. These plans keep the Spaniards open to reshaping their forward line.

The battle for the second attacking spot at Real Madrid will see Endrick and Garcia competing for minutes, with Endrick yet to return after the World Cup and Garcia already training under Mourinho in the preseason. Garcia’s preseason performances have impressed the new coach, reinforcing Mourinho’s desire to have him in his squad.

A potential right‑wing signing involving Yan Diomande has been widely linked with the Spaniards, suggesting Real Madrid are exploring options beyond their current front‑line. The link indicates the club’s willingness to diversify its attacking options ahead of the new campaign.

If the transfer materialises, Garcia would leave a Real Madrid side that is still shaping its forward line, while Fulham would acquire a proven Premier League‑ready striker to enhance their offensive depth. Real Madrid retaining a future‑rights percentage ensures they could benefit financially should Garcia succeed in England.

For Garcia, the move offers a clear pathway to regular first‑team football under a manager who has publicly praised him, whereas Fulham gain a high‑profile Spanish forward to match their ambitions for the season. The deal therefore represents a pivotal moment for both player and club as they chart their next chapters.
