Mourinho pushes Bayern and Real for €40‑million defender Araújo
Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are monitoring the 24‑year‑old centre‑back Tomás Araújo of Benfica, whose market value is around 40 million euros, while both clubs are looking for further reinforcements for the defence. The Portuguese player, whose contract runs until 2031, is already on the watch list of both clubs according to journalist Ekrem Konur.
Mourinho and Bayern examine Araújo's profile
Jose Mourinho emphasizes that Real Madrid wants to further strengthen the defence, and together with Bayern Munich is monitoring the 24‑year‑old Tomás Araújo. As Fichajes reports, the Portuguese player is already on the watch list of both clubs.
Bayern Munich also shows interest; previously his name was linked with AC Milan. Araújo's name is listed with a market value of around 40 million euros, while his contract with Benfica runs until 2031 and gives the club a strong negotiating position.
Araújo fits the sought‑after profile because of his abilities in build‑up play. In his first European encounter he achieved a pass accuracy of 93 percent, regularly plays over 90 minutes and set up a goal at the end of August against Estoril.
So far there is no information about a formal offer from Bayern or Real. Both clubs are still in the scouting phase, but with continued form he could become one of the most interesting centre‑backs on the market in the upcoming transfer windows.
