Mother's grief fuels feud between Ronaldo and Portugal coach

During the most recent international break, Cristiano Ronaldo left the national camp after his 41‑year‑old mother Dolores Aveiro expressed her sorrow in an emotional interview with TV 7 Dias about the feud with head coach Jorge Jesus and decided to leave the training camp because she could no longer identify with the cold tone of the discussion.

Ronaldo explains departure

In an extensive statement, Cristiano Ronaldo recently explained why he left the national team. He indicated that he will be available for Portugal again in November.

“He has always been the hero of Portugal. They do not appreciate him as they should,” Ronaldo declared in the same statement. These words underscore his disappointment with the federation's appreciation.

Ronaldo added that he would accept any possible sanction for not thanking the fans in Norway. “If I am physically fit and play for my club – and hopefully score goals – and once any suspension is over, I will be available, as I have always been, to fight and win for our national eleven,” he emphasized.

Dolores Aveiro, visibly upset, told TV 7 Dias: “It was a shock. My son should have left through the front door, but instead he went out the back door.” “But it’s okay, God will take care of him,” she added.

It remains unclear whether Aveiro’s comment about ‘leaving through the back door’ signifies a definitive farewell from the national team. Ronaldo confirmed that he will fight for Portugal again once any suspension is lifted.

Meanwhile, CR7 is back in Saudi Arabia, where he continues to play his matches for Al‑Nassr. His club performances remain an important part of his sporting agenda.
