Morata leaves Como – his relationship with Fabregas has cracked
Alvaro Morata told 'El Larguero' of Cadena SER that his departure from Como was not the right situation for him, due to a fallout with Cesc Fabregas; the transfer involved a total outlay of 18 million euros, but his contribution was nil in Serie A.
A broken bond at Chelsea
Probably something cracked between them when, after almost two years as teammates at Chelsea, they found themselves together again at Como last season. With Cesc Fabregas, Alvaro Morata had hoped to rebuild the rapport, but reality was different.
The accounts of the 18‑million transfer
The move was financed with one million euros for the loan from Milan in the summer of 2025, followed by five million to Galatasaray to release him, while the remaining twelve million of the buy‑out clause vanished. With these sums, the club made a considerable investment without sporting returns.
Morata's present at Leganés
On 4 September Morata played his first match with Leganés in Serie B against Las Palmas, but he failed to score. His contribution to the Spanish club is still being assessed, with an option to stay until the end of the season.
Ranieri confession of new Fiorentina contract to June 2029
During his spell at Como, the Spanish striker did not score in Serie A and in the worst defeat against Fiorentina (2‑1) last February he was sent off for provoking Ranieri, an episode that marked his experience at the Sinigaglia.
Morata also reported a significant thigh injury, sustained between December and January, which kept him out of action for an extended period.
Despite the fallout, Morata expressed deep respect for Cesc Fabregas, describing him as a very good and intelligent coach, capable of having absorbed lessons from Conte, Mourinho and Guardiola.
Morata's future remains uncertain: his stay at Leganés will depend on the contractual option and the decisions he makes at the end of the season.
