Monaco close to €30m deal for Nantes’ Matthis Abline
AS Monaco are edging closer to a €30 million agreement to sign Nantes’ 23‑year‑old striker Matthis Abline, according to L’Equipe. The former Stade Rennais Academy graduate has already accepted personal terms with Les Monégasques on a five‑year contract, positioning the move as a major transfer this summer.
Monaco have been searching for a versatile striker after expecting forward Folarin Balogun to depart following a convincing 2026 World Cup with the USMNT. The Principality side submitted several bids to Nantes over the past months and are now closing in on an agreement to sign Abline. In addition, PSG targets Maghnes Akliouche and Aleksandr Golovin are also set to leave Monaco, further widening the need for a new attacker.

Nantes, now relegated to Ligue 2, had long anticipated Abline’s exit, citing his potential and marketability as reasons the club could not retain him.
If the €30 million fee is confirmed, Abline would become Les Canaris’ record sale, delivering a substantial financial boost to Nantes. For Monaco, the signing secures a proven goal‑scorer on a five‑year contract, strengthening their attacking options.
