Modena eye Torino’s youth star Wisdom Acquah to fill midfield void

Modena have turned to Torino Primavera midfielder Wisdom Acquah after a serious knee injury to midfielder Alessandro Sersanti, who tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during a friendly against Vis Pesaro, sidelining him for an estimated five to six months.

Alessandro Sersanti suffered a complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during a friendly against Vis Pesaro. The injury will require surgery and a rehabilitation period of five to six months, followed by additional time to regain match fitness. Modena’s midfield options are therefore significantly reduced.

Midfield reinforcement plan

In response, Modena have identified 19‑year‑old Torino Primavera midfielder Wisdom Acquah as a potential signing. The Italian‑Ghanaian has impressed at youth level for Torino and is now attracting interest as the club looks to reinforce its midfield before the season gathers pace.

Sporting director Andrea Bonato and technical director Davide Catellani are actively assessing possible recruits, with Acquah regarded as a player of considerable promise. Their evaluation reflects the urgency created by Sersanti’s absence.

Catanzaro are also monitoring Acquah, but Modena hope to move quickly and get ahead in the race for his signature. A swift approach could secure the midfielder before competing clubs intervene.

Acquah has delivered encouraging performances with Torino’s Primavera side and is viewed as ready for a step toward senior football. His development trajectory suggests he could adapt to the demands of Serie C competition.

Coach Massimo Galloppa retains alternative options, yet Acquah would add depth and long‑term potential to the squad. The midfielder’s profile aligns with Modena’s strategy of blending immediate cover with future growth.

Modena begin their Coppa Italia campaign at Venezia on Saturday, providing an early test for any new addition to the roster. The timing underscores the club’s desire to finalize midfield reinforcements promptly.
