Millwall’s Championship push hinges on Lisbie’s signing

Kyrell Lisbie has completed a move to Millwall, joining the Championship side from Peterborough United on a long‑term deal for an undisclosed fee. The 22‑year‑old winger arrives after a breakout campaign in which he scored 14 goals in 51 appearances, bolstering the Lions’ push for promotion.

Lisbie arrived after a breakout season in which he netted 14 goals in 51 appearances across all competitions. His performance highlighted his ability to contribute both goals and assists.

He had been tied to Peterborough United until 2030 after signing an extension in April. Millwall secured his services on a multi‑year deal, reflecting the club’s intention to build around his potential. The contract length underscores the long‑term plan.

Director of football Steve Gallen explained that Millwall pursued Lisbie during the January transfer window. Gallen said, “Kyrell had a real breakout season last year at Peterborough, with an excellent goals and assists record that speaks for itself.” The club identified his recent form as a key factor.

Gallen also praised Lisbie’s versatility, noting he can operate on either wing, is quick, direct and possesses a real hunger to score and create chances. These attributes align with the qualities Millwall values in new signings.

The signing marks Millwall’s sixth addition of the summer transfer window, complementing recent arrivals such as defender Baggott from Ipswich and midfielder Sykes on two‑year deals. The active market strategy aims to strengthen the squad ahead of the new season. The club hopes the influx of talent will support their Championship push.

For Lisbie, the move represents a step up from League One, where he progressed from non‑league Braintree Town in 2025, to the higher demands of the Championship. For the Lions, his proven goal‑scoring record offers an additional attacking option as they chase promotion.
