Milan seeks winter solution with Zirkzee as new striker

AC Milan is looking for a new striker to strengthen the attack, after Gonçalo Ramos and the young Francesco Camarda have not yet found a regular partner. With the option for Joshua Zirkzee to leave Manchester United in January, the Rossoneri see an opportunity to refresh the front line.

Limited playing time at Manchester United

According to CalcioMercato, Joshua Zirkzee has an option to terminate his contract with Manchester United in January. The 25‑year‑old is getting few minutes this season and has so far made four substitute appearances.

Milan sees Zirkzee as the ideal striker

Despite the limited playing time, Zirkzee was called up for the Netherlands by national team coach Xavi Hernández as a replacement for Brian Brobbey. His earlier success in Serie A with Bologna makes a return to Italy attractive.

Last summer Juventus and AS Roma were mentioned as possible destinations, but no transfer materialised. The link with a departure remains, partly because he has not yet broken through in Manchester.

CalcioMercato reports that AC Milan have now focused the winter transfer market on Zirkzee. The club believes the Dutch striker can compete with Ramos and Camarda for a place in the attack.

For a winter move, an agreement must be reached before the transfer window closes in January. Possible obstacles include negotiations with Manchester United and competition from other interested clubs.
