Milan’s rebuild under Amorim targets Champions League return

Guia: Milan Reconstrução under Ruben Amorim confronts the challenge of restoring Italian prominence after a dramatic 2025/26 season that left the club out of the Champions League. The Serie A campaign saw a record unbeaten run, yet a home loss to Cagliari derailed the European ambitions.

A dramatic 2025/26 campaign

The campaign ended with Milan out of the Champions League, a stark drop for the side in Itália. Under Massimiliano Allegri, the Rossoneri recorded a 24‑match unbeaten streak in Serie A, keeping title hopes alive until the final rounds. A 2‑1 home defeat to Cagliari pushed the team out of the Champions League zone, relegating them to the Europa League. The side also exited the Coppa Italia in the round of 16 and fell in the Supercoppa Italiana semifinal.

Amorim’s project and new signings

Following Allegri’s dismissal, club owner Gerry Cardinale appointed Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim, previously of Sporting and Manchester United. Amorim arrived with a clear brief: restore Milan’s protagonismo in the Italiana competition and secure a Champions League place. The plan Para 2026/27 emphasizes rebuilding the squad both on and off the pitch, with the Milão hierarchy backing his vision.
