Milan and Roma step up pursuit of Brighton’s Yasin Ayari as contract runs to 2027 next week

Milan and Roma step up pursuit of Brighton’s Yasin Ayari as contract runs to 2027 next week

Italian media report that both Milan and Roma have set their sights on Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Yasin Ayari, who will turn 23 next week. His contract runs only until June 2027, giving the Serie A clubs a timely opportunity.

Serie A interest intensifies

According to Tuttosport and Calciomercato, the Sweden international is attracting strong interest from Italian clubs. Roma made an approach several months ago but were rebuffed, while Milan have now stepped up their pursuit. The story even carried the headline “Ayari attracting Serie A interest SOLNA, SWEDEN – SEPTEMBER 28”.

Ayari celebrated after scoring in Sweden’s 2‑1 win over Poland at the Strawberry Arena in Solna on September 28, 2026. He also featured in Sweden’s 3‑1 Nations League victory over Poland on Monday.

His Brighton contract expires in June 2027, though the club holds an option to extend for a further year. This limited term means the Italians could acquire him for a relatively modest fee.

In Milan’s view, Ayari is seen as a potential heir to Luka Modrić in midfield, especially as Ardon Jashari has struggled to make an impact. The club hopes the Swedish midfielder can fill that creative void.

Ayari was observed during the warm‑up before the Carabao Cup third‑round tie between Manchester United and Brighton at Old Trafford on September 16, 2026. The match took place in Manchester, England.

He joined Brighton in January 2023 after loan spells at Coventry City and Blackburn Rovers. So far this season he has scored one goal in seven competitive appearances and was on target in Sweden’s recent Nations League win.
