Mikey Moore leads England U20s to victory over Italy in a friendly
Cologne Mikey Moore leads England U20s to victory in the test against Italy and confirms his form, which he had already shown during his loan spell in Cologne from Tottenham Hotspur. The 19‑year‑old winger was immediately appointed captain and scored the second goal of the 3‑1 win.
Moore arrived less than a month ago from Tottenham Hotspur to Cologne, where he plays in the Bundesliga for the Billy Goats. Since then he has established himself as one of the most dangerous attacking players.
U20 coach Darren Moore, who has no family connection to the player, immediately deployed the 19‑year‑old as captain. This decision was instantly rewarded.
First Appearances and Goals
In the debut match against Italy last Friday, Moore started on the left wing and scored England's second goal in a 3‑1 victory.
Four days later he led the U20 again, playing centrally in the creative midfield and netted the decisive goal for the 2‑1 win over France.
His versatility, already evident in Cologne, showed up again; he ranks jointly with Saïd El Mala in second place for shots with eight attempts.
The next encounter is scheduled for October 3 against Germany, before Moore returns to Cologne on October 11 for the Bundesliga derby against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
